Before entering private practice in 1994, Steve served in the United States Navy as a judge advocate, working as trial defense counsel and as advisory counsel to the U.S. Attorney’s Office on environmental tort claims. Steve has tried dozens of cases to juries and judges in state and federal courts in Washington, Alaska, and California. He now handles all types of environmental litigation, administrative proceedings, and alternative dispute resolution.
Outside of work, Steve serves on the Board of Trustees of PCC Natural Markets and the Board of Directors of the Washington Trails Association. He enjoys backpacking and other outdoor activities and is an avid runner, reader, and blues guitarist.
Steve received his B.A.
in Biology and Environmental Science from the University of Virginia.
He received his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law,
where he was Articles Editor for the University of Colorado Law
Review.
